A pair of new Scotty Cameron putters use a wing-inspired design to provide a high-MOI experience, hopefully meaning you'll make more putts.
The Futura X5 and X5R models not only are weighted to keep your putts as on line as possible, but also have alignment cues to help the stroke toward your intended destination. The X5 model is angled in the back, while the X5R features a rounded shape. The mallet design is face-balanced in both models. These putters are ideal for players looking to feel maximum confidence and control over the ball before the stroke.
And a lot of PGA Tour players are looking for that kind of confidence, with mallet-shaped putters making up to half of the flatsticks in play each week.
The putter head has a 303 stainless steel body with an aluminum soleplate to allow for a hollow area underneath and place more weight at the wings in the design.
The Futura x5 also comes in a counterbalanced model, using Cameron's Dual Balance approach: adding 50 grams to the head and 50 grams in the butt of the putter shaft. The added weight allows a player to make a more comfortable, consistent stroke. At 38 inches, the putter is 4 inches longer than most standard putters and has a 15-inch grip to create a more hunched, pseudo-anchored stance.
In addition, the new Scotty Cameron Futura X5 Dual Balance putter combines the X5 head style with Dual Balance technology to provide maximum stability for golfers who struggle to make a consistent stroke with a conventional length putter. Like all Dual Balance models, Futura X5 DB has a 50-gram heavier head (400 grams total) and a 50-gram counterweight in the butt of the shaft. This configuration helps many players make a proper stroke where the butt of the shaft remains pointed at the midsection. Dual Balance putters have a standard length of 38 inches with a 15-inch grip that allows the player to grip down below the counterweight for a more stable stroke.
The Scotty Cameron Futura X5 putters will be available starting Oct. 31. The Futura X5 and X5R putters retail for $375, with the Dual Balance model at $425.
