(RESTON, VA) – In less than two weeks, tens of thousands of golfers from Hawaii to New England will tee it up on Monday, August 1 in the sixth annual World’s Largest Golf Outing benefiting Fisher House Foundation.
Spots are filling fast, but tee times still remain at several courses nationwide for golfers to participate in the highly emotional and entertaining event. A USGA handicap is not required; all golfers can sign up as a single, twosome or foursome.

“In two weeks, golfers will join in solidarity to raise money and awareness for our brave servicemen and women,” says Peter Hill, Chairman and CEO of Billy Casper Golf, which founded the event. “It’s our turn to serve them and having fun with friends and family on the links is an ideal way to give back and say ‘thank you.’”
Part proceeds and all donations from players and non-players benefit Fisher House Foundation and its mission to provide free “comfort homes” for military families to be near loved ones receiving medical care at major military and VA medical centers. Teams are encouraged to raise additional funds; donations are made at www.worldslargestgolfouting.com/donate.
All registered golfers are entered into a grand-prize drawing to win a trip for four to the Nike Campus in Beaverton, OR, for custom club fitting and other merchandise. The highest national fundraising team will win a trip for four to Destination Kohler, host of the 2020 Ryder Cup, to play the Irish Course at Whistling Straits and either the River Course or Meadow Valleys Course at Blackwolf Run. Additional prizes can be earned by teams with the highest contribution levels and best scores of the day at each course.
“With more than 40,000 participants and $3 million raised since 2011, the World’s Largest Golf Outing has evolved into a national movement supporting our heroes,” says Jonathan Schoenfeld, Executive Director of the World’s Largest Golf Outing. “Here’s to eclipsing the high bar set in last year’s record-breaking event that raised more than $1 million in a single day.”
About Fisher House
Fisher House Foundation is known for its network of comfort homes where military and Veterans’ families can stay at no cost while a loved one is receiving treatment. These homes are located at major military and VA medical centers nationwide, and in Europe, close to the medical center or hospital it serves. Fisher Houses have up to 21 suites, with private bedrooms and baths; families share a common kitchen, laundry facilities, a warm dining room and an inviting living room.
Fisher House Foundation operates the Hero Miles program that uses donated frequent flyer miles to bring family members to the bedside of injured service members, as well as the Hotels for Heroes program that uses donated hotel points to allow family members to stay at hotels near medical centers without charge. The Foundation also manages a grant program that supports other military charities and scholarship funds for military children, spouses and children of fallen and disabled veterans.
