Billy Casper Golf Earns Contract Extension with Ocala Golf Club

Billy Casper Golf (BCG) – the highly respected and innovative manager of golf courses, country clubs and resorts – has earned a five-year contract extension with Ocala Golf Club

The City Council of Ocala unanimously approved the BCG management contract extension – citing the positive impact that BCG has had on club operations, course maintenance, customer experience, and golf participation.

“The City of Ocala recognizes the benefit the golf course provides to our community,” said Kathy Crile, Recreation and Parks Director for the City of Ocala. “We believe our continued partnership with Billy Casper Golf will ensure Ocala Golf Club maintains its reputation as a top Florida golf destination.”

BCG took over operations of the city-owned municipal course in 2012, and in Fall 2015 oversaw its six-figure renovation. The putting surfaces were transitioned to Tif-Eagle Bermuda – offering higher drought resistance and consistent seasonal playability – and the course’s 34 bunkers were revamped.

“Our agronomy team has done an impressive job developing consistent course conditions at Ocala,” said Tony Cianci, BCG Senior Vice President of Operations. “We look forward to continuing to provide a best-in-class golf experience for the Ocala community.”

Earlier this year, Ocala Golf Club hosted the 10th Annual Moot Thomas Invitational. The field for the popular amateur tournament included some of the most accomplished amateur golfers from across the country.

About Ocala Golf Club

One of Florida’s historic, treasured golf courses, Ocala Golf Club was built in 1931. Originally designed and built by E. Ellsworth Giles – a pupil of the renowned Donald Ross – the course underwent an extensive renovation overseen by golf course architect Michael Beebe in 2009. The course is located in the City of Ocala in Marion County and features elevation changes rare for central Florida. What the layout may lack in distance – it measures 6,552 yards from the tips – it more than makes up for in green undulation and complexes. It is a part of Florida’s Historic Golf Trail, a program of the Florida Department of State designed to enhance public awareness of Florida’s historic golf courses and increase an appreciation for historic preservation and Florida history. In addition to a championship golf course, Ocala Golf Club also includes a fully-stocked pro shop and 150-seat banquet hall ideal for weddings, rehearsal dinners, business meetings, cocktail socials, holiday parties, banquets and more.
