Billy Casper Golf (BCG) – the highly respected and innovative manager of golf courses, country clubs and resorts – has been selected by Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board (IRRRB), with partner Guest Service, Inc., to manage golf operations and recreational offerings for Giants Ridge in Biwabik, MN.
BCG was chosen as a strategic management partner – to oversee golf operations at the Giants Ridge four-season resort – following an 18-month study to evaluate ways the property could achieve greater success. The State of Minnesota and IRRRB approved the contract for BCG to begin management on April 30.
BCG will guide golf course maintenance, marketing, sales, staffing and training, merchandising, food and beverage, golf instruction and financial management for Giants Ridge’s two courses: The Legend and The Quarry. Operations will be locally-managed by a professional golf and agronomic team, and supported by both a regional and national team that provide expert guidance and direction in all facets of the business.
“Giants Ridge has long been considered one of Minnesota’s top golf destinations,” said Mark Phillips, IRRRB Commissioner. “Billy Casper Golf’s expertise in guest and employee services, recreational programs, and golf course conditioning will enable us to offer a golf experience that is second to none.”
“The two courses at Giants Ridge are a beloved attraction in the Biwabik community,” said Alex Elmore, BCG President. “We look forward to ensuring that the community and its visitors experience a best-in-class golf offering.”
Named one of the Best Golf Resorts in the Midwest for 2016 by Golf Digest, Giants Ridge features two championship layouts. The Legend is carved out of the Superior National Forest and offers breathtaking views. The Quarry is a re-purposed industrial site that pays tribute to the region’s rich mining history. Both highly acclaimed, each course has its own unique layout and character.
