Our Programs
While people are our most valuable asset, the creative and innovative work they do is what grows our business.
Among the dozens of programs we offer to golfers nationwide, several stand out as particularly successful. Following are examples of programs created and implemented at BCG-managed golf courses nationwide, programs that contribute to our courses’ overall success.
The Advantage Card
BCG’s Advantage Card is a proven, strategically-sound revenue program that increases a golf course’s revenue and rounds per customer, customer share of wallet, and customer loyalty.
How? The premise is relatively simple and compelling from the customer’s point of view. For a one-time fee ranging from $59 to $159, depending on the course, the customer receives a free round of golf plus discounted green fees for the balance of the season. Additional benefits may include savings on golf shop merchandise, complimentary range balls, early access to twilight play, or advance reservation capability.
Regardless of the exact benefits, the Advantage Card provides additional value to the customer above and beyond discounted green fees. It serves as a link to the course for the golfer, one that creates a customer-business relationship cemented by outstanding course conditions and excellent service.
The program allows the course an opportunity to build loyalty among its customers and increase the number of rounds played among those customers who purchase the card. Card holders have an incentive to play more of their rounds at the course in order to maximize their savings, thereby increasing the course’s overall revenue.
Get Golf Ready
Furthering our leadership in growing the participation base of golfers, Billy Casper Golf and our courses are among the Founding Contributors of the World Golf Foundation’s nationwide Get Golf Ready” golfer development program.
“Get Golf Ready” targets millions of U.S. adults who have never played golf or need rejuvenation after a hiatus. Designed to be conducted in comfortable and enjoyable settings, participants are provided – at a very low cost – background and skills training on rules, etiquette and values, and a series of five introductory lessons in small groups. Golfers then transition to on-going playing opportunities with PGA and LPGA professionals as on-course mentors.
Dozens of BCG-managed courses are participating in “Get Golf Ready,” with individual instructors and academies throughout our portfolio building additional value into this adult learning program.
PDP Program
Practice makes, well, perfect. The age-old mantra is the guiding force behind one of Billy Casper Golf’s most successful programs. The Player Development Program (or PDP for short) takes a different shape at each
course it’s offered, but the basic premise remains the same: provide a convenient and affordable way for golfers to hone their game, on and off the course.
After purchasing an annual PDP card at a low-monthly fee ranging from $29 to $59, golfers may take advantage of the program’s practice and play benefits. Golfers receive unlimited visits to the driving range, plus access to the golf course during the last two to three hours of the day for a cart fee per visit.
The cost of the program and program benefits depend on the facility, its market, the greens fees charged, course and range utilization, and analyzed customer playing habits. Regardless, the end result is the same – hundreds of newly loyal customers paying a recurring monthly fee to call the course home for practice and play.
Night Golf
The key to a successful program, of course, is to create revenue from opportunities not previously harnessed. Across the country, BCG-managed courses host a unique golf event that is both wildly successful and produces 100% completely-new revenue. The event? Night Golf.
The premise is simple: at dusk, the course is lined with glow sticks, golfers play a shotgun-style outing with glowing balls, food and drink are provided, and everyone has a blast. The event typically accommodates 40-60 golfers during a nine-hole event, but as the outings have become more popular, it’s not unheard of to have up to 144 players for either 9 or 18 holes, with a waiting list!
The program has been so successful at some of BCG’s Mid-West courses, that Night Golf is staged every Friday night throughout the summer, adding nearly 1,000 new rounds at a time once deemed unplayable.
Programs that Give Back
The holiday season is typically a time for giving to the less fortunate among us, and a many Billy Casper Golf-managed courses traditionally “give back” to their communities by supporting local charities.
Philanthropy is not something dormant the other 11 months of the year. The Courses across the BCG porfolio give charities year-round, including,
-
For several years, members at Cranbury (NJ) have been sending golf equipment and golf balls to U.S. troops serving overseas as a part of Operation Tee Box.
-
Tri-Mountain (WA) hosted a “Scramble for the Orphans” charity outing for Step Into Rwanda. The tournament raised more than $16,000 – exceeding expectations – toward building a school for Rwandan children and providing medical equipment and supplies for a medical clinic.
-
Reston National(VA), Chick Evans (IL) and River Oaks (IL) have all hosted “Rally for the Cure” events to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation, raising thousands of dollars for breast cancer research.
